A cracking addition to The Ensemble Collection from Dalmore, this litre bottle of The Trio was originally released as a Travel Retail exclusive. After initially maturing in ex-bourbon casks, the single malt was divided between a combination of more first-fill ex-bourbon casks, tawny Port pipes, and Matusalem sherry casks, before coming together again in this delicious harmony.
Tasting Note
Nose: Heaps of tangy, zesty fruit with notes of dried cranberry, orange peel, and cherry chocolate.
Palate: Still fruity with dark berry compote and stewed plums. Hints of leathery oak creep in, with creamy barley and buttered shortbread.
Finish: A touch of woody anise and clove are balanced by silken caramel, rounded off with plenty of oaken vanilla.
