The Archival Series from The Macallan was created to showcase advertisements for the distillery and its whisky from yesteryear, presented in folio tins that look like big books. This particular edition is Folio 5, and it features a deerstalker hat on both the bottle’s label and book-shaped tin. A rare, collectible piece from the legendary distillery.

Macallan Folio 5 was the fifth release of the planned 24-part Archival Series (currently on its eighth instalment), created to celebrate The Macallan’s advertising campaigns from the 1970s to the 1990s. The series is much sought-after by collectors.

Folio 5’s featured ad told the tale of the unfortunate gamekeeper who made the fatal error of not tying up the ears of his deerstalker – the ‘Luggy Bonnet’ of the release’s nickname – thus missing the offer of a dram of The Macallan from his laird.

Released in January 2020 as a limited edition of 3250 bottles, originally only available from the distillery itself, official Macallan Boutiques, and selected global travel retailers. Bottled at 43% abv and elegantly presented in a book-shaped tin box also containing a commemorative illustrated booklet.
