Tasting Note
Nose
A very mild nose-feel, and a mild aroma overall. The top nose is that of a burning candle. Beneath this there are fresh fruits, such as unripe fig, a trace of fresh almond, wet leaves and dried heather. Some notes of hessian and talcum powder in the development.
Body
Medium
Palate
At natural strength, creamy-soft in mouthfeel, smoothly waxy and coating in texture and lightly sweet in taste to start, with a slightly bitter shake of saltiness and a rising peppery heat quickly coming to dominate. Enjoyable and appetizing straight. A dash of water sweetens and smoothers out the flavors, but as usual with older whiskies at the expenses of the spiciness and grip. Best enjoyed at natural strength.
Finish
Long and lightly drying, with a salty spiciness, a faint suggestion of smoke, and a lingering hint of sweet wine in the aftertaste.
