The Ardbeg Galileo 1999 is a distinctive single malt whisky that was distilled in 1999 and bottled in 2012. It is a limited edition release from the Ardbeg distillery, known for its unique maturation process and complex flavour profile. It was released to commemorate Ardbeg’s involvement in a space experiment with NanoRacks, which aimed to study the effects of micro-gravity on whisky maturation. It is a highly sought-after collector’s item due to its limited release of only 15,000 bottles. The whisky has received high praise and awards, including the title of World’s Best Single Malt Whisky at the 2013 World Whiskies Awards.

Appearance
Light gold
Nose
The nose is rich and complex, featuring a blend of tropical fruits such as banana and pineapple, along with hints of vanilla, toffee, and a subtle smokiness. There are also notes of dried fruits and a touch of maritime influence.
Palate
On the palate, the whisky is smooth and well-balanced. It offers flavours of sweet vanilla, creamy toffee, and tropical fruits, complemented by a gentle peat smoke. There are also hints of spices, such as cinnamon and nutmeg, and a slight nuttiness.
Finish
Long and lingering. The finish is warm and satisfying, with a continuation of the sweet and smoky flavours, along with a touch of oak and a hint of saltiness.
The Ardbeg Galileo 1999 12 Year Old is celebrated for its unique combination of flavours and its smooth, well-rounded profile. The use of both ex-Marsala and ex-bourbon casks adds depth and complexity to the whisky, making it a memorable and distinctive expression from Ardbeg.
