The Kanosuke Distillery Exclusive Bottle #005 is a special and limited release from the Kanosuke Distillery, located in Kagoshima, Japan. This expression is part of the distillery’s exclusive series, showcasing their innovative approach to whisky making and their commitment to quality.
Kanosuke Distillery Exclusive Bottle #005 is crafted from non-peated malt and distilled in February 2018. The whisky is aged for approximately 4 years, first in re-charred American white oak casks and then finished in bourbon casks. This dual maturation process imparts a distinctive character to the whisky, combining the rich, sweet notes from the re-charred casks with the smooth, vanilla-infused flavours from the bourbon casks. Bottled at cask strength of 55% ABV, this whisky offers an intense and unadulterated tasting experience. The bottle is a limited edition, available exclusively at the distillery.
Tasting Note
Colour
Golden amber, reflecting its time spent in both re-charred and bourbon casks.
Nose
The aroma is inviting and complex, with notes of citrus, Japanese nikki cinnamon, and peppermint. There are also hints of maple syrup, adding a sweet and aromatic layer to the nose.
Palate
On the palate, the whisky is fresh and fruity, with flavours of Ramune candy, peach, and milk vetch flower honey. The influence of the bourbon casks is evident, providing a unique sweetness that complements the underlying maltiness. There are also subtle notes of grapefruit, adding a touch of bitterness.
Finish
The finish is gentle and lingering, with a pleasant sweetness and a slight bitterness that disappears quickly. The combination of re-charred and bourbon cask maturation leaves a well-rounded and satisfying aftertaste.
