Akkeshi New Born 2019 Foundation 3 is a vatted blend of non-peated malts matured for 8-23 months in casks made from the rare Mizunara Oak, which is locally grown in Hokkaido. This release is part of the Akkeshi Distillery’s “Foundations” series, representing the early stages of their whisky production. The whisky is bottled at 55% ABV and is known for its fragrant aroma and complex flavour profile.
Tasting Note
Nose
The aroma is rich with notes of brown sugar, vanilla, and fresh melon, infused with spice notes of nutmeg.
Palate
On the palate, it offers flavours of bitter chocolate and sugar syrup, complemented by a layer of tangerine zest.
Finish
The finish is characterised by white pepper and bitter chocolate, with a hint of fragrant wood.
This whisky is noted for its balance and the unique influence of the Mizunara Oak, which imparts a distinctive character to the spirit.
