“Kogei” translates to “traditional Japanese craftsmanship” and thus sees Suntory collaborate with Japanese traditional crafts artisans in creating the new set of whiskies – a Yamazaki and a Hakushu, both featuring Peated Malt and the use of Spanish Oak.

Introducing from the nature and spirit of Japan, the House of Suntory Yamazaki Peated Malt Spanish Oak. This single malt Japanese whisky is from the Kogei Collection of the Japanese Kimono Edition. Distilled in the oldest distillery in Japan, the Yamazaki Distillery, it is bottled at an alcohol strength of 43%.

This dark amber whisky opens gently with smoky notes on the nose and gives rich floral flavors of bitter orange marmalade and dark chocolate. Sophisticated smokiness enters the palate in harmony with notes of soft sweetness and faint citrus.

This limited edition offering pays homage to “Kogei,” or “traditional Japanese craft,” and The House of Suntory’s long history of master craftsmanship. An unending source of inspiration, this craft values both the creative process and beauty of the final product. It reflects the ongoing dedication to innovation and the Monozukuri philosophy of the House of Suntory.

In partnership with Chiso, Kyoto’s premier Kimono House, which has been making the best Japanese kimonos since 1555, the 2024 Japanese Kimono Edition was developed. Chiso’s pattern creators used the age-old technique of Bokashi-zome (gradation dyeing) to infuse the labels and exterior packaging of the bottles with the history of the House of Suntory and these distinctive Yamazaki and Hakushu whiskies.
