Glendronach Cask Strength Batch 12 700ml (58.2%, OB, 2023)

Nose: I get touches of orange marmalade, mocha, some nougat and damp leaves, as well as amber ale, white peaches and dried apricots. Finally some strong breakfast tea. There are some acidic notes to offset the sweet, slightly malty base. Which I guess is a convoluted way of saying it’s fairly balanced.

Taste: Decent viscosity and initial sweetness, but the oak is rather prominent. A peppery (Szechuan) arrival with orange pith, tobacco, ginger and a bit of sandalwood. Also some burnt toast, caramel, menthol and dark chocolate. 

Finish: Medium to long. Menthol and black tea with some oranges.
