The Shizuoka Prologue K & Prologue W set is a special release from the Shizuoka Distillery in Japan, featuring two 200ml bottles of their distinct single malt whiskies.
Shizuoka Prologue K
Made using the distillery’s “K” pot still, which was previously used at the Karuizawa distillery. 100% Japanese barley. Aged in a combination of bourbon and wine casks.
Tasting Note
Nose
Savoury upfront with dry oaky vanilla, seasoned soya meatballs, caramel-like sweetness, and a hint of mustard. Peat, hickory smoke, iodine, apples, and orchard fruits with an earthy note of mushrooms and a salty touch.
Palate
Powerful with Thai curry, ginger, and pepper heat. Mouthcoating with oaky dryness. Water brings out mushrooms and more toffee.
Finish
Medium+ with more peat smoke, cured meat hints, and green walnuts.
Shizuoka Prologue W
Made using the distillery’s unique wood-fired “W” pot still. A mix of non-peated Japanese malt, Scottish peated malt, and German beer malt. Aged in first-fill bourbon barrels, first-fill bourbon quarter casks, and virgin American oak casks.
Tasting Note
Nose
Sweet and fruity with caramel, green apple, lemon/lime citrus, and a honey cinnamon backdrop. Vanilla notes similar to Prologue K.
Palate
Peaty with cinnamon sugar and honey. White pepper adds heat, and water brings out more fruitiness like orange slices. Woodiness comes later.
Finish
Long with notes of lemon sponge cake and candied ginger. Bittersweet with oak and a faint peat finish.

Changing Delivery Address
